How to Submit a Perfect Bug Report

Introduction

Errors and glitches in any application are always frustrating. By submitting the right information when reporting these problems, you can help to make sure they get resolved as quickly as possible. (And prevent the additional frustration of dozens of back and forth emails!)

Key Information

When reporting an issue including at least the following will hugely speed up the process of reproducing and fixing the bug:

  • Your name and email address.
  • Your school.
  • What Web Browser you were using when the issue arose.
  • What device (windows laptop, mac laptop, iPad etc) you were using when the issue arose.
  • A description of the issue. (What were you expecting to happen? What actually happened?)
  • A description of the actions you were taking in Education Modified when the issue arose.
  • The name(s) of the students in whose profiles you saw the issue. (If any)
  • The names(s) of any teachers who are also experiencing the issue.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

If possible, including a screenshot or video of your browser along with your bug report can help us quickly reproduce the fix any issues you are seeing.

For more complex issues, including screenshots from Google Chrome's Developer Tools can be even more helpful. We have a whole guide on how to access those tools here.
