Using Developer Tools to Create Bug Tickets
Introduction
Some technical issues are the result of unique sets of circumstances created by different Web Browsers, Operating Systems, Internet Connections and a dozen other variables. This can make it difficult to reproduce and resolve problems.
One of the best ways to get the information needed is to use a set of tools in Google Chrome called ‘ Developer Tools’. They can help to pinpoint where a problem might be arising. This guide will show you how to open up Chrome’s Developer tools so you can take a screenshot to send to Education Modified to help the debugging process.
How to Open Google Chrome's Developer Tools
- In the top right-hand corner of Google Chrome you should see an icon with three dots in a vertical line. Click it.
- In the menu that appears, click the ‘More Tools’ option.
- In the second menu that appears, click the ‘Developer Tools’ option.
- A new panel should appear either on the top or side of your browser. Click the ‘Console’ tab in the top of the panel.
- Take a screenshot of your whole screen.
- Send the screenshot and information to Support@educationmodified.com. (Here are some tips on how to fill out the perfect bug ticket!)
- Or, click on the orange beacon in the bottom right corner to contact the Support Team. FIll out the form and send over your screenshot.
